Base Salary
$210k - $245k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and implementation of hardware abstraction layers, peripheral drivers, and board support packages across MCU families.
- Support RTOS configuration, integration, optimization, OS selection, task architecture, and resource management.
- Design reusable core firmware frameworks and libraries for telemetry, firmware updates, and health monitoring.
- Contribute to Bazel-based build infrastructure, reproducible builds, dependency management, and scalable target configurations.
- Drive coding standards, driver interfaces, platform APIs, MCU selection, memory management, and peripheral-allocation decisions.
- Improve build, test, toolchain, compiler, linker, and CI infrastructure.
- Optimize boot time, memory footprint, and runtime performance across the firmware platform.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, test, and firmware teams on ECU software integration workflows and reusable software.
- Provide vehicle system integration support, including feature implementation, ECU handshaking, debugging, and root-cause analysis.
- Drive firmware initiatives supporting product quality and vehicle safety in propulsion and battery systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of firmware development experience, ideally in safety-critical, time-sensitive, and resource-constrained environments.
- Previous software architecture experience with an understanding of portable, maintainable, and scalable code.
- Expertise in C programming; familiarity with C++, Python, and Bash scripting.
- Experience delivering software-enabled hardware products, including low-level firmware such as drivers and bootloaders.
- Hands-on experience debugging embedded systems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, and related diagnostics tooling.
- Strong understanding of control systems and system integration.
- Familiarity with electric drivetrains, battery technology, and vehicle communication protocols and peripherals such as ADC, CAN, force, and IMU sensors.
- Familiarity with model-based design and MATLAB/Simulink.
- Familiarity with real-time operating-system platforms, ideally in functional-safety-critical applications.
- Familiarity with static analysis and linting tools.
- Experience applying CI/CD and test automation to consumer-facing, software-enabled hardware products.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
