Responsibilities
- Build API-backed component services around the layout synthesis engine with documented contracts and evaluation gates.
- Turn model retraining into reproducible one-command jobs with integrated benchmarks and readable results.
- Own latency and cost budgets for learned capabilities.
- Extend spatial AI research into capabilities such as multi-story plans and real-time editing.
- Partner with infrastructure engineers on MLOps and deployment.
- Mentor researchers and interns on engineering practices and communicate work through status updates, pull requests, and design notes.
Requirements
- Have 5+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 2 years training and shipping ML models to real users.
- Have taken at least one model end to end through data preparation, training, evaluation, serving, and user-facing integration.
- Be fluent in Python and PyTorch; TensorFlow or Keras experience is acceptable with readiness to move to PyTorch.
- Have experience with geometric or structured data such as floor plans, CAD, BIM, graphs, or 2D and 3D geometry.
- Have built or maintained an evaluation harness or benchmark used to gate changes.
- Have packaged a model behind an API such as FastAPI and owned its latency and cost.
- Have a master’s degree in computer science, machine learning, or a related field, or equivalent shipped work.
- Be comfortable working remotely with a team on US Eastern hours.
- Preferred qualifications include architecture or building experience, constraint solvers such as OR-Tools CP-SAT, layout or floor-plan optimization, Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, Hugging Face, experiment tracking, AWS or Modal model serving, publications, or open-source contributions.
