Responsibilities
- Define and own event-driven streaming architecture, including pub/sub, fanout, backpressure, and high-availability patterns.
- Select, configure, and scale distributed messaging, WebSockets/gRPC, and API gateway technologies.
- Establish data contracts, schema evolution, serialization, registry, and compatibility policies.
- Design observability and resiliency capabilities, including distributed tracing, SLOs, idempotency, retries, and circuit breakers.
- Lead cloud-native deployments using Docker and Kubernetes across AWS or Azure.
- Set security-by-design standards in partnership with DevSecOps.
- Mentor engineers, review designs and code, and promote software development lifecycle practices, automated testing, and documentation.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in software architecture, design, and production code review.
- 2+ years building WebSockets-driven real-time services and data pipelines using Node.js, TypeScript, and React.
- Experience with REST APIs, WebSockets, C#, JavaScript, CSS, Swagger, OpenAPI, client-side development, and server-side development.
- Experience with Agile methodology, Git, AWS, and Azure.
- Experience designing relational data architectures such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server and NoSQL architectures such as MongoDB or DynamoDB at scale.
- Experience delivering data streaming technologies and distributed message queues, with strong unit and integration testing experience.
- Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes for scalability.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Secret clearance and eligibility to access classified information.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Preferred experience with Python, Kafka, Spark/Flink, ksqlDB, low-latency performance engineering, Unity, Unreal, Prepar3D, or C++.
