Base Salary
$151k - $204k/yr
Responsibilities
- Advise early-stage founders on right-sized, scalable application and infrastructure architectures.
- Prototype solutions, build reference patterns, and demonstrate working implementations alongside startup teams.
- Analyze and improve architectures generated by coding agents, including their embedded decisions and tradeoffs.
- Guide founders in selecting foundation models and AI services and shipping production-ready GenAI applications.
- Advise on GenAI application cost, latency, accuracy, safety, and best practices.
- Help startups make pragmatic build, scale, and disposable-architecture decisions.
- Experiment with models, agent frameworks, and emerging tools to maintain technical expertise.
- Build relationships across the San Francisco startup ecosystem, including accelerators, incubators, and VC firms.
- Connect founder feedback and startup technology trends to AWS product, engineering, and roadmap teams.
- Share expertise at startup events, demo days, and developer meetups.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data and analytics.
- At least 2 years of experience designing, implementing, or consulting on applications and infrastructure.
- Experience designing and building applications with AWS services such as Lambda, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, and Kubernetes.
- Experience communicating complex technical concepts to technical and business audiences.
- Hands-on prototype or production experience with GenAI, including foundation models, agents, RAG, or fine-tuning.
- Preferred experience as a startup founder, founding engineer, or early engineer at a pre-Series A company.
- Preferred fluency with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex.
- Preferred experience shipping GenAI applications to production and managing model cost, latency, accuracy, and safety.
- Preferred depth in at least one technical or industry domain combined with broad full-stack fluency.
- Preferred experience building AI data foundations, including vector databases, data pipelines, or retrieval systems.
