Responsibilities
- Define and govern target architectures for enterprise applications, messaging platforms, APIs, data services, and integrations.
- Translate product and business strategy into architecture roadmaps, technology standards, implementation plans, and modernization strategies.
- Lead architecture and solution design reviews for products, enhancements, integrations, data platforms, and security initiatives.
- Establish scalable patterns for microservices, distributed systems, event-driven platforms, Kafka messaging, Cassandra, and REST APIs.
- Drive legacy-platform modernization toward cloud-ready and cloud-native architectures while balancing stability, commitments, and delivery timelines.
- Validate architecture through prototypes, performance testing, code reviews, production-readiness assessments, and technical guidance.
- Improve scalability, reliability, resilience, observability, security, and operational supportability across critical systems.
- Provide technical leadership during high-priority production incidents and address root architectural problems with long-term solutions.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, QA, DevOps, Security, Data, and Enterprise Architecture teams on dependencies and tradeoffs.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders and promote architecture best practices, CI/CD standards, and modern software development principles.
Requirements
- 12+ years designing and building enterprise software solutions, including significant experience with Java-based backend platforms and distributed-systems architecture.
- Deep knowledge of microservices, object-oriented design, integration patterns, data modeling, scalability, and performance optimization for high-volume systems.
- Experience defining architecture roadmaps, reference architectures, technical specifications, non-functional requirements, architecture decision records, and implementation estimates.
- Proven ability to evaluate technology solutions, communicate architectural tradeoffs, and influence technical and business stakeholders.
- Strong expertise in production operations, observability, reliability engineering, capacity planning, troubleshooting, and operational readiness.
- Expertise with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Web, Spring Security, Spring Data, Apache Kafka, Cassandra, RESTful API design, Linux administration, and AWS or comparable cloud technologies.
- Preferred experience with Spark or similar distributed data-processing technologies; Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration; observability and monitoring platforms; and infrastructure automation.
- Preferred knowledge of telecommunications, mobile messaging, fraud prevention, identity verification, STIR/SHAKEN, SIP, API security, and related communication technologies.
- Preferred experience leading large-scale modernization, platform consolidation, or cloud-transformation programs across globally distributed teams.
- Preferred familiarity with integrating architecture governance with Agile delivery methodologies.
