Responsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, review, and debug secure, high-quality production software.
- Build and operate backend services and distributed systems using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS.
- Develop event-driven and streaming architectures, data persistence solutions, caching, and workflow orchestration.
- Improve application stability by identifying and automating remediation of recurring issues.
- Lead adoption and validation of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices, including coding, code review, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Evaluate vendor and internal architectural designs and technical capabilities.
- Coach engineers on secure, compliant, and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
- At least 10 years of professional software engineering experience building and operating Java backend services.
- Experience with Java 11/17+, Spring Boot, Spring MVC/WebFlux, and Spring Security.
- Experience designing distributed systems with caching, idempotency, retries, rate limiting, and circuit breakers.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including ECS, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, ALB, VPC, and Route 53.
- Experience with RDS/Aurora/PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, S3, and ElastiCache.
- Experience with SQS, SNS, Kinesis, MSK or Kafka, and Step Functions.
- Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK, and Git-based pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Experience leading responsible AI-assisted software development and validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Strong understanding of application resiliency, secure-by-design engineering, agile delivery practices, and regulated financial-services environments.
- Strong communication, engineering judgment, and ability to own services end to end.
