Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable media and entertainment platforms using Ruby on Rails, Python, shell scripting, and microservices.
- Translate complex stakeholder requirements into technical solutions, implementation plans, roadmaps, and prioritized backlogs.
- Provide technical direction for architectures supporting streaming, asset management, recommendation engines, analytics, and future feature expansion.
- Define coding standards, conduct detailed reviews, and mentor engineers on maintainable and testable software practices.
- Integrate third-party media services, content delivery platforms, and data providers while protecting content integrity and user privacy.
- Optimize application and service performance through profiling, tuning, caching, and resource management.
- Define logging, metrics, and alerting strategies for observability across distributed services.
- Champion authentication, authorization, data protection, and regulatory compliance practices.
- Coordinate deployment pipelines and release processes with infrastructure and site reliability teams.
- Lead troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and long-term corrective actions for complex production issues.
- Evaluate tools, frameworks, and architectural patterns and guide their selective adoption.
Requirements
- Seven to eleven years of experience in software development and technical leadership.
- Deep hands-on Ruby on Rails experience building high-volume user-facing applications, including controllers, models, background jobs, and data-store integrations.
- Proven experience designing and implementing scalable microservices architectures with service decomposition, inter-service communication, and fault-isolation patterns.
- Strong Python programming skills for backend services, automation, data processing, or content workflows.
- Shell scripting experience for deployment, monitoring, housekeeping, and operational automation.
- Experience in media and entertainment, including content workflows, metadata management, rights considerations, and audience experience expectations.
- Ability to lead technical discussions, estimation, planning, debugging, and distributed-system problem solving.
- Familiarity with relational and non-relational data stores and appropriate modeling and querying techniques.
- Understanding of application security, performance optimization, reliability, logs, metrics, and traces.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, plus a demonstrated commitment to mentoring and knowledge sharing.
