Responsibilities
- Design and implement features and performance improvements for the scheduler, execution harness, and results-processing services.
- Build, maintain, test, and optimize high-quality backend code and reusable components.
- Write and review technical designs, pull requests, and feature-level implementation plans.
- Troubleshoot production issues, participate in on-call rotation, and create post-mortems and mitigation plans.
- Improve test coverage, reduce technical debt, and identify design flaws and system improvements.
- Collaborate with product managers, QE, customer support, design, and engineering peers on scalable product delivery.
- Use AI coding assistants and conversational AI to accelerate development and author or review SDLC artifacts.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software industry experience designing and building backend services and reusable components.
- Experience with distributed systems, cloud computing, code reviews, technical design, troubleshooting, and testing.
- Proficiency in a modern backend or systems language such as Python, Java, C++, or C#.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and containerization with Docker or Kubernetes.
- Ability to independently lead feature-level software and design work and explain technical trade-offs.
- Experience with continuous integration tooling such as Buildkite; familiarity with Datadog or Grafana is a plus.
- Fluency with AI code assistants, coding agents, and conversational AI for code and SDLC artifacts.
- Bonus experience with ETL or ELT, cloud data platforms, schedulers, workflow orchestration, job queues, distributed task execution, GraphQL, high-throughput multi-tenant services, analytics engineering, or the dbt ecosystem.
