Base Salary
$140k - $168k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement features and performance improvements for discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history services.
- Develop, maintain, test, and optimize high-quality software and critical performance paths.
- Write and review technical designs, explain trade-offs, and provide constructive feedback on pull requests.
- Improve test coverage, write unit tests, and reduce technical debt through refactoring.
- Troubleshoot production issues and follow up with post-mortems and mitigation plans.
- Plan and execute feature work, break features into tasks, and contribute to sprint and feature planning.
- Collaborate with product managers, QE, customer support, and engineering peers to deliver scalable, reliable products.
- Participate periodically in the on-call rotation and maintain awareness of security.
- Use AI tooling such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and conversational AI to accelerate development and create or review software development artifacts.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software industry experience, including designing and building backend services and reusable components.
- Experience with distributed systems and cloud computing concepts.
- Ability to write well-structured, performant, and well-tested code.
- Ability to independently lead feature-level software and design work and explain design trade-offs.
- Experience identifying design flaws, proposing improvements, conducting code reviews, designing, troubleshooting, and testing.
- Proficiency in a modern backend or systems language such as Python, Java, C++, or C#.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and containerization with Docker or Kubernetes.
- Experience with continuous integration tooling such as BuildKite.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog or Grafana is a plus.
- Fluency with AI code assistants, coding agents, and conversational AI for generating, investigating, authoring, reviewing, and synthesizing software development artifacts.
- Bonus experience with ETL or ELT, cloud-based data platforms, metadata, catalogs, lineage, discovery or search systems, GraphQL APIs, high-throughput multi-tenant data services, the analytics engineering workflow, or the dbt ecosystem.
