Responsibilities
- Develop and ship production-grade features for AlphaSense’s Microsoft Excel plugin.
- Integrate cloud-based market intelligence capabilities with Excel’s object model, calculation engine, and event system.
- Optimize plugin performance, memory usage, stability, error handling, and recovery.
- Support enterprise deployment, updates, version management, monitoring, and cross-platform operation.
- Contribute to development, testing, deployment, and monitoring standards for Office plugins.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and pairing.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and operating large-scale production systems.
- Deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript and modern development practices.
- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, state management, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with enterprise software deployment, updates, and version management.
- Demonstrated ability to build performant applications with strong error handling and recovery.
- Experience debugging complex integration issues and optimizing memory and performance.
- Ability to mentor teams and establish development best practices.
- Preferred: production experience with the Office JavaScript API, VSTO, or COM add-ins.
- Preferred: knowledge of Excel’s calculation engine, object model, and power-user patterns.
- Preferred: understanding of financial modeling, data analysis workflows, or trading systems.
- Preferred: experience with React and modern frontend frameworks.
