Responsibilities
- Own backend architecture and implementation across multiple Startale ecosystem products.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable production APIs and backend services for customer-facing applications.
- Build and operate high-performance distributed systems that reliably handle large user bases and production traffic.
- Design for scalability, fault tolerance, reliability, maintainability, and long-term data-storage growth.
- Build and maintain data pipelines, background workers, asynchronous processing systems, and event-driven architectures.
- Develop blockchain integrations and indexing systems that ingest, process, and serve on-chain data.
- Design database schemas, optimize complex queries, and manage production database performance.
- Integrate Web2 backend systems with blockchain protocols and decentralized infrastructure.
- Diagnose production issues, performance bottlenecks, reliability problems, and scaling challenges.
- Implement observability, monitoring, alerting, and operational tooling.
- Improve backend architecture, deployment pipelines, system reliability, and engineering practices.
- Make independent technical decisions and take ownership of production-ready systems.
Requirements
- Extensive experience building and operating production backend systems, including systems serving large user populations under high traffic and demanding workloads.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern backend frameworks such as NestJS, Fastify, or Express.
- Strong knowledge of backend architecture, API design, service-oriented architecture, distributed systems, scalability, concurrency, fault tolerance, and reliability.
- Deep PostgreSQL expertise covering schema design, indexing, query optimization, migrations, and production database management.
- Experience building data-processing systems, data pipelines, background workers, asynchronous processing systems, or event-driven architectures.
- Hands-on experience integrating blockchain infrastructure, node APIs, smart contracts, decentralized protocols, and blockchain indexing or event-processing systems.
- Understanding of wallet architecture, transaction lifecycles, signing flows, blockchain data models, and DeFi protocol integrations.
- Strong operational experience with observability, logging, monitoring, service health, production incidents, and scaling challenges.
- Go backend experience is a strong plus.
- Experience with Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging systems is a strong plus.
- Experience deploying and operating services with Docker and modern CI/CD pipelines is a strong plus.
- Open-source contributions to backend, infrastructure, or blockchain tooling and familiarity with DeFi products such as decentralized exchanges, lending protocols, staking systems, and bridges are valued.
