Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data services on the managed lakehouse.
- Own pipelines, datasets, and data services from requirements through production support.
- Build warehouse and lakehouse data models supporting product features, analytics, and ML.
- Contribute to data architecture, design documents, code reviews, team practices, tooling, and onboarding.
- Improve performance, reliability, and cost across Snowflake, Iceberg, Spark/Flink, and storage and serving layers.
- Maintain responsive graph-serving data models and access patterns as data volumes grow.
- Implement data quality, governance, lineage, security, and observability standards.
- Partner with product, infrastructure, security, analytics, data science, and software engineering teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Use AI-assisted development practices with disciplined review before production use.
- Participate in the data systems on-call rotation and implement lasting fixes from incident learnings.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience building production software, with substantial data engineering experience.
- 2+ years owning meaningful pipelines, datasets, or data services in production.
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL, data modeling, and query optimization, ideally with Snowflake or a comparable cloud warehouse.
- Strong hands-on experience with dbt and Airflow or close equivalents.
- Proficiency in at least one of Python, Java, or Scala.
- Production experience with distributed batch or streaming processing and at least one of Kafka, Flink, Spark, or Cassandra.
- Professional experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code for data modeling, SQL/dbt, pipelines, testing, and documentation.
- Experience with cloud-native systems on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
- Ability to deliver high-quality work independently, communicate clearly, write design documents, and explain technical tradeoffs.
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred: experience building large-scale data platforms and lakehouse systems with Apache Iceberg.
- Preferred: exposure to graph-oriented data systems, large relationship datasets, and billion-scale problems.
- Preferred: experience with SLOs, Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, and data-job instrumentation.
- Preferred: experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, CloudFormation, and continuous delivery for data systems.
- Preferred: operational tuning experience with Spark or Flink.
- Preferred: experience with search and information retrieval systems such as OpenSearch.
- Preferred: exposure to machine learning workflows and MLOps practices.
- Preferred: familiarity with IAM/IGA, compliance, security, or privacy-sensitive product domains.
