Responsibilities
- Build and enhance backend services and shared platform capabilities using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS.
- Design and maintain APIs and event-driven integrations for customer, internal, and partner applications.
- Contribute to technical designs addressing scalability, security, performance, and failure handling.
- Write maintainable code and automated unit and integration tests.
- Own assigned features through implementation, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
- Troubleshoot production issues using logs, metrics, and monitoring tools.
- Participate in code reviews, on-call rotations, incident investigations, and reliability improvements.
- Maintain API, service-behavior, and operational documentation.
- Review AI-assisted generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience developing backend software.
- Experience with Java, Spring Boot, API design and consumption, RESTful services, relational or NoSQL databases, and data modeling.
- Understanding of microservices and distributed-systems fundamentals, including retries, timeouts, idempotency, and partial failures.
- Hands-on experience with AWS or a comparable cloud platform and familiarity with asynchronous messaging and event-driven systems.
- Experience writing automated unit and integration tests and troubleshooting applications with logs, metrics, and monitoring tools.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical decisions, progress, and risks.
- Preferred qualifications include reusable platform-service development, GraphQL and API schema design, Kafka, SNS/SQS, DynamoDB, Lambda, ECS, Kubernetes, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, access controls, AI-assisted development, LLM API or Model Context Protocol integrations, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
