Responsibilities
- Design and implement large-scale distributed database systems for RDS for Oracle in AWS environments.
- Optimize database performance, high availability, scalability, and operational reliability at massive scale.
- Develop customer-facing APIs, monitoring and troubleshooting tools, automation systems, and integrations with AWS services.
- Lead architecture and design for enterprise database services and translate customer requirements into technical specifications and roadmap items.
- Engage directly with customers and collaborate with account managers and solution architects on complex database implementations.
- Lead development cycles and balance delivery speed with code quality, security, and scalability.
- Integrate AI and ML technologies to improve database performance, security, and ease of use.
- Ensure solutions meet security and compliance requirements including FedRAMP, GDPR, and HIPAA.
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and provide guidance on architecture, performance, and scalability.
- Create technical documentation, best-practice guides, whitepapers, and educational materials.
Requirements
- Experience as a mentor, technical lead, or engineering team lead.
- Experience leading the architecture and design of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Professional non-internship software development experience.
- Experience programming in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design.
- Experience with software development within the last three years.
- Preferred: bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Preferred: experience with the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
