Responsibilities

  • Design and implement large-scale distributed database systems for RDS for Oracle in AWS environments.
  • Optimize database performance, high availability, scalability, and operational reliability at massive scale.
  • Develop customer-facing APIs, monitoring and troubleshooting tools, automation systems, and integrations with AWS services.
  • Lead architecture and design for enterprise database services and translate customer requirements into technical specifications and roadmap items.
  • Engage directly with customers and collaborate with account managers and solution architects on complex database implementations.
  • Lead development cycles and balance delivery speed with code quality, security, and scalability.
  • Integrate AI and ML technologies to improve database performance, security, and ease of use.
  • Ensure solutions meet security and compliance requirements including FedRAMP, GDPR, and HIPAA.
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and provide guidance on architecture, performance, and scalability.
  • Create technical documentation, best-practice guides, whitepapers, and educational materials.

Requirements

  • Experience as a mentor, technical lead, or engineering team lead.
  • Experience leading the architecture and design of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
  • Professional non-internship software development experience.
  • Experience programming in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design.
  • Experience with software development within the last three years.
  • Preferred: bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Preferred: experience with the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
