Responsibilities
- Lead large projects, squads, technical initiatives, incident response, postmortems, and delivery planning.
- Own domain solutions and architect end-to-end flows across applications, infrastructure platforms, services, and integrations.
- Define technical strategy, reference architectures, golden paths, standards, roadmaps, and non-functional requirements.
- Evaluate and select cloud services, data platforms, integration frameworks, infrastructure components, and applications based on performance, cost, scalability, and resilience.
- Produce architecture diagrams, sequence flows, APIs, data models, migration plans, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts.
- Write and review well-structured, testable, efficient code and infrastructure components where appropriate.
- Define SLOs and SLIs and establish monitoring, alerting, observability, availability, latency, throughput, and recoverability standards.
- Champion security-by-design, privacy-by-default, threat modeling, secure coding, encryption, data protection, and regulatory compliance.
- Drive integration strategies across legacy and modern systems, including APIs, event streaming, messaging, microservices, interoperability, and data integrity.
- Guide CI/CD, DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, testing, and operational excellence practices.
- Lead technical, design, code, and readiness reviews and elevate engineering quality across teams.
- Prioritize technical debt and modernization efforts and create migration paths that minimize disruption.
- Mentor and influence engineers without formal line management and communicate strategy, risks, and technical pathways to senior leadership.
- Define and implement automation and AI tooling and evangelize its use across the team.
- Drive vendor due diligence, technology selection, consulting methodologies, and cross-functional alignment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering, information technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- 9–11 years of experience in software development or technology infrastructure engineering.
- Extensive experience developing and supporting mainframe applications.
- Prior experience leading the selection and implementation of vendor-specific methodologies.
- Prior consulting experience with structured methodologies.
- Broad experience with multi-platform development tools and toolkits.
- Expertise architecting large-scale distributed systems and producing high-fidelity design artifacts.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms, containers and orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD, with strong testing, observability, and SRE practices.
- Strong integration and data experience across APIs, event streaming, and governance.
- Subject matter expertise in at least one relevant tool or technology.
- Executive-ready communication, technical influence without formal line management, risk management, and cross-functional alignment skills.
- Experience in the securities or financial services industry is preferred.
