Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end technical design for complex full-stack capabilities spanning user experience, microservices, data workflows, graph technologies, and cloud infrastructure.
- Translate business and data requirements into architecture, technical roadmaps, service boundaries, and implementation plans.
- Lead design reviews and technical decisions covering scalability, security, resilience, integration, data quality, maintainability, and cost.
- Define reusable engineering patterns, reference implementations, enterprise guardrails, and engineering standards.
- Identify and drive remediation of architectural risks, technical debt, delivery dependencies, and operational risks.
- Make hands-on contributions through critical code, prototypes, integration patterns, and complex defect resolution.
- Govern code quality, testing, CI/CD, GitOps, observability, documentation, release readiness, and non-functional acceptance criteria.
- Guide cloud and Kubernetes design, including workload topology, identity and access, secrets, resilience, performance, and operational support.
- Use delivery metrics, quality signals, and operational insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Define responsible, secure, traceable, and independently validated use of AI-assisted engineering.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and convert successful experiments into reusable delivery practices.
- Mentor engineers and guide multiple engineers or workstreams across global teams.
Requirements
- Advanced experience with graph platforms such as Neo4j or BigQuery Graph, including graph modelling and integration patterns.
- Experience governing AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or comparable solutions.
- Strong observability experience with Splunk, Grafana, and CloudWatch.
- Breadth across Angular, Next.js, Vue.js, Java, Go, or dbt, with sound technology-selection judgment.
- Experience designing hybrid or multi-cloud integrations involving Google Cloud services such as Cloud Storage and BigQuery.
- Experience creating reusable platform capabilities, developer enablement assets, or engineering accelerators.
- Substantial experience delivering complex technology solutions in financial services, including banking, funds management, wealth management, or investment management.
- Deep understanding of Master Data Management, data stewardship, data quality, identity resolution, lineage, and data governance.
- Experience shaping or modernising enterprise MDM platforms and integrating them with operational and analytical ecosystems.
- Working knowledge of regulated delivery environments, operational resilience, and risk control expectations.
- Typically 8 to 12+ years of relevant engineering experience, including technical leadership of complex delivery.
- Strong problem-solving, architecture communication, stakeholder influencing, autonomy, ambiguity management, and end-to-end accountability skills.
- Proven ability to guide multiple engineers or workstreams within an Agile delivery model using JIRA and Confluence.
- Experience leading change, incident, and problem management activities.
- Ability to communicate options, trade-offs, and recommendations to engineering teams and senior non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work from the Sydney office three days per week and flex working hours when reasonably required for global collaboration.
