Base Salary

$120k - $261k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deliver AI-powered systems and platforms for developing, delivering, and operating software.
  • Build capabilities for AI systems to understand context, plan and execute complex work, use tools, retain knowledge, and collaborate with people and other AI systems.
  • Design and build distributed systems and cloud infrastructure for reliable, secure, and efficient AI workloads at scale.
  • Integrate AI capabilities with products, engineering systems, and workflows for developers and engineering teams.
  • Own features from architecture and implementation through production, including quality, reliability, security, observability, and operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, research, and partner teams to turn AI advances into useful product capabilities.
  • Contribute to technical direction through design reviews, code reviews, engineering practices, and mentorship.
  • Pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Coding experience in one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Rust.
  • Experience designing, building, and delivering scalable, production-grade software systems or cloud services is preferred.
  • Preferred experience includes distributed systems, concurrency, cloud architecture, backend systems, AI-powered applications, agentic systems, developer platforms, workflow engines, schedulers, stateful services, or large-scale cloud infrastructure.
  • Preferred experience includes designing platforms, APIs, SDKs, or extensibility systems used by developers.
  • Preferred experience includes identity, authorization, isolation, multi-tenancy, or secure execution environments.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, mentorship, complex problem ownership, sound design decisions, and cross-team effectiveness are preferred.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.

Benefits

  • The typical U.S. base pay range is USD $119,800-$234,700 per year; a separate range applies to the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
  • The position is open for a minimum of five days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until filled.
