Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Citadel’s backend systems, microservices, event-driven components, and cloud/Kubernetes infrastructure.
- Evolve the game abstraction layer for Xbox and PlayStation development kits, including launching, configuring, and controlling game builds.
- Support the technical maturation of agentic playtesting bots and other ATOM prototypes.
- Develop internal APIs, orchestration workflows, observability tools, and CI/CD pipelines for agent evaluation.
- Apply software engineering practices across requirements, design, implementation, testing, code reviews, and architecture discussions.
- Partner with ML, QA, and game teams to deliver reliable experimentation and evaluation infrastructure.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience with strong backend and distributed-systems fundamentals.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or other backend languages.
- Hands-on experience with game development workflows, game engines, or console platforms.
- Experience developing C++ applications on Windows, including Windows services, COM-based SDKs, and native-code debugging.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including OSI layers, HTTP, WebSockets, WebRTC, handshakes, packets, and headers.
- Experience building microservices and deploying them to Kubernetes and AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Understanding of system design, API development, observability, CI/CD, and reliability practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication and the ability to collaborate across ML, QA, and game teams.
- Experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.

- British Columbia base salary range is $122,300–$170,700 CAD per year, depending on location and other factors.
- Three weeks of vacation per year to start and 10 sick days per year in Canada.
