Base Salary

$80k - $95k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain services interacting with server BMCs through IPMI and Redfish across a heterogeneous hardware fleet.
  • Develop control-plane tooling for DPU provisioning and lifecycle management, including NVIDIA BlueField and AMD Pensando platforms.
  • Implement and harden serial-over-LAN, virtual media, and remote console workflows.
  • Write observable, well-tested, unattended Rust services, with Go and PHP where appropriate, for fleet-scale production use.
  • Contribute to internal SDKs and shared libraries used by infrastructure teams.
  • Partner with datacenter operations and hardware vendors to debug firmware, BMC, and DPU behavior in production.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and on-call rotations for the out-of-band control plane.
  • Improve test coverage, CI/CD pipelines, and tooling for safely shipping hardware automation.
  • Document interfaces, runbooks, and failure modes.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience building backend services or systems software.
  • Production experience with at least one of Rust, Go, or C/C++, plus willingness to ramp up on Rust as the primary language.
  • Solid working knowledge of Linux, including processes, networking, systemd, and basic kernel concepts.
  • Comfort with HTTP APIs, JSON, gRPC, and at least one common RPC or IPC pattern.
  • Familiarity with IPMI, Redfish, BMC tooling, PXE/iPXE, or bare-metal provisioning, or strong systems fundamentals and interest in learning these technologies.
  • Ability to read vendor documentation, RFCs, and packet captures to investigate system behavior.
  • Strong written communication skills for design documents, pull request descriptions, and incident postmortems.
  • Preferred experience includes DPUs, SmartNICs, SR-IOV, IOMMU, KVM, QEMU, libvirt, BGP, VXLAN, or datacenter networking.
