Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural direction and scaling strategy for Zocdoc’s billing platform.
- Build, maintain, and improve event-driven billing workflows and pricing algorithm systems.
- Develop and scale high-performance backend services, ETLs, and APIs within distributed systems.
- Collaborate with Finance, Product, Design, and Engineering to solve provider and internal billing needs.
- Drive high-visibility projects from research and technical design through planning, implementation, and launch.
- Ensure billing engine accuracy, financial data integrity, system stability, and issue triage.
- Define and implement engineering practices for code quality, reliability, testing, deployment, and observability.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across teams.
- Integrate generative AI tools into technical planning and coding workflows.
Requirements
- 8+ years of engineering experience building and scaling high-performance backend services, ETLs, and APIs in event-driven, distributed systems.
- Experience or familiarity with cloud-native environments such as AWS and infrastructure as code.
- Leadership experience guiding teams toward strong testing, deployment, and observability practices.
- Strong ownership, analytical ability, attention to detail, communication, collaboration, and project-completion skills.
- Experience working in environments where data reliability and integrity are especially important.
- Experience integrating generative AI tools into daily workflows is expected.
