Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java backend applications and microservices.
- Build Spring Boot applications with attention to clean code, testing, performance, and reliability.
- Containerize and deploy applications and integrate CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with DevOps.
- Implement event-driven, asynchronous, and decoupled systems using messaging platforms.
- Design and maintain efficient relational database integrations and optimized SQL queries.
- Participate in architecture discussions, conduct code reviews, and promote engineering best practices.
- Use AI code companions and intelligent development tools to improve productivity and development quality.
- Mentor junior developers and support team collaboration and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend software development experience using Java 8 or above.
- Strong proficiency with Spring Boot and the Spring framework ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing microservices.
- Proficiency writing optimized SQL queries and working with databases.
- Working knowledge of Apache Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, message-driven systems, and distributed systems.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or similar orchestration platforms, and Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools.
- Experience with Git, cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, and Agile development practices.
- Hands-on experience with AI code companions such as GitHub Copilot or JetBrains AI Assistant, including responsible use, prompt structuring, output validation, and understanding tool limitations.
- Strong English communication skills; German language skills are a plus.
- Preferred qualifications include Java performance tuning and monitoring knowledge, backend security best practices, and full-stack experience with Angular or React.
