Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, develop, test, debug, and implement medium-to-large software enhancements and solutions.
  • Enhance and maintain Charles River IMS modules or components within an Agile Scrum team.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to convert business requirements into sustainable software.
  • Contribute to product architecture, design specifications, code reviews, API documentation, and customer documentation.
  • Provide engineering troubleshooting assistance to customer support teams and other development teams.
  • Write unit and automation tests, conduct manual testing, and help improve development test methodologies and frameworks.
  • Participate in Scrum activities including standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and cross-team assignments.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide informed technical guidance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another technical field is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • 6–10 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experience is required.
  • 4–7 years of financial services development experience in areas such as Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, Post-Trade, IBOR, or Wealth Management is strongly desired.
  • Authoritative experience with object-oriented programming, compiler or interpreter technologies, embedded systems, operating systems, relational databases, scripting, and advanced programming languages is required.
  • Ability to work independently on medium-to-large projects and contribute to complex design specifications with senior staff.
  • At least 5 years of experience with an Agile development methodology is strongly desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with peers are required.
