Director, Platform Architect (Investment & Research Technology)

Responsibilities
- Define and evolve target-state architecture, roadmaps, governance processes, reference architectures, and reusable platform capabilities for investment and research technology.
- Lead modernization and simplification of legacy platforms and adoption of scalable cloud-native architectures.
- Partner with engineering teams on APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, integration patterns, distributed systems, implementation, design validation, proof-of-concepts, and code reviews.
- Design and deploy applications on GCP and PCF using containers, automation, observability, and resilient infrastructure.
- Establish scalable data architectures, pipelines, metadata, and analytics-ready platforms with data engineering teams.
- Identify and govern AI and GenAI opportunities for investment workflows, research productivity, knowledge discovery, and operational efficiency.
- Champion automated testing, security-by-design, observability, platform reliability, and API-first and event-enabled engineering practices.
- Collaborate with business, product, engineering, architecture, data, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and SRE leaders, while mentoring engineers and architects.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise architecture roles.
- Significant experience in Asset Management, Investment Management, Research, Trading, or Quantitative Technology environments.
- Proven experience leading large-scale platform architecture and modernization initiatives.
- Strong proficiency in Java with Spring Boot/Spring Cloud, .NET/C#, or Python.
- Deep expertise in microservices, event-driven architectures, API design, and distributed systems.
- Strong cloud architecture experience on GCP or AWS, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of data architecture, data engineering patterns, and analytics platforms, with experience using Snowflake and SQL Server.
- Familiarity with DevOps toolchains such as Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, and Jenkins.
- Knowledge of AI/ML architecture patterns, model deployment, and governance frameworks.
- Preferred experience with Aladdin, Charles River, Bloomberg, FactSet, Refinitiv, Perform, or VestmarkOne.
- Preferred knowledge of FIX protocol, market data platforms, trading workflows, investment operations, quantitative research, risk, and performance analytics ecosystems.
- TOGAF, Google Cloud Architect, or similar architecture certification is preferred.
