Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and evolve the Currents data export system.
- Solve live performance and reliability issues.
- Write and review code while educating engineers.
- Practice sustainable incident response and conduct blameless postmortems.
- Define standards for monitoring, reliability, and performance.
- Bridge the gap between infrastructure and platform engineering teams.
- Support and improve services by planning for scale and reliability.
- Guide junior engineers in SRE best practices and agile project leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Five years of experience in software engineering or site reliability engineering.
- Experience with distributed systems like Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.
- Familiarity with alerting software such as Sentry, Datadog, or PagerDuty.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Java, Kotlin, or Ruby.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases like Postgres and MongoDB.
- Knowledge of data streaming or queuing systems like Kafka, Sidekiq, or SQS and SNS.
- Experience with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins or Buildkite.
- Ability to collaborate through pull requests and code reviews in GitHub or GitLab.
