Responsibilities
- Develop, run, and analyze performance workloads and system benchmarks for release qualification, research, and development.
- Investigate production performance issues and collaborate with developers on performance fixes and proactive improvements.
- Prototype and evaluate performance and scalability improvements involving algorithmic efficiency, concurrency control, and memory management.
- Profile the database engine and storage service using C and Java code.
- Conduct benchmarking, analysis, and modeling for hardware selection and capacity management.
- Collaborate on telemetry, dashboards, and analysis facilities for the production fleet.
Requirements
- Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Strong coding skills in Java or C/C++.
- Proficiency in SQL database programming.
- Fluency with Linux commands, interfaces, and operating system concepts.
- Expertise in data analysis and visualization.
- Preferred experience includes SQL query optimization, database optimizer internals, database architecture, Splunk, Java profiling, JVM tuning, heap dump analysis, Git, Linux shell scripting, Python, statistical analysis, experimental design, networking, cloud platforms, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Strong communication, collaboration, technical problem-solving, learning, and growth-mindset skills.
