Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, companywide software engineering initiatives spanning multiple systems, services, and data flows.
  • Design, develop, test, debug, document, and maintain scalable automation platforms and backend services.
  • Build data-driven services and tooling that support network engineering automation, observability, analytics, and operational efficiency.
  • Define and enforce engineering standards for architecture, reliability, observability, security, performance, code quality, and maintainability.
  • Make high-impact technical decisions, evaluate tradeoffs, identify technical risks, and provide direction on ambiguous problems.
  • Collaborate with technical experts, cross-functional engineering teams, senior technology leaders, and external industry groups.
  • Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, provide peer guidance, and elevate the team’s technical depth.
  • Create solution and product roadmaps and drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, tooling, automation, and operational readiness.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • At least 5 years of experience building scalable, production-grade systems using modern programming languages and frameworks.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, .NET, JavaScript/React, APIs, SQL, and NoSQL data stores.
  • Strong proficiency in Ansible-based network and systems automation; the posting also cites 8+ years of working domain experience as a desired qualification.
  • Experience with event-driven and distributed systems, Kafka, ETL pipelines, and microservices design.
  • At least 3 years of practical experience building AI/ML-powered capabilities, including data preparation, model development, optimization, and production deployment.
  • Experience designing and deploying RESTful services, backend automation services, and platform components for large-scale engineering or operational systems.
  • Familiarity with containerized workloads on Kubernetes and OpenShift, with AAP or Tower knowledge as an advantage.
  • Background in data engineering workflows such as data ingestion, data feeds, transformation, and analysis.
  • Exposure to observability and telemetry ecosystems, including Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, time-series metrics, synthetic monitoring, or capacity and health analytics.
  • Understanding of concurrency, memory management, distributed-system behavior, API architectures, modern web and service frameworks, secure software development, static analysis, application security, and enterprise architecture patterns.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, influence cross-functional teams, collaborate across functions, and work in product-based engineering teams.
