Responsibilities
- Lead architecture, design, technical decision-making, and delivery for Node.js backend services, Contentful CMS integrations, AWS infrastructure, and scalable web applications.
- Design, build, and maintain secure, high-performing APIs and distributed or microservices-based systems.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, monitoring, observability, reliability, and production troubleshooting practices.
- Apply AWS security, governance, infrastructure, IAM, secrets-management, and least-privilege best practices.
- Establish engineering standards, scalable design patterns, and quality practices including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Provide technical mentorship, supervision, and performance guidance to engineers.
- Partner with product, design, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including architecture experience.
- Proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and PHP.
- Strong Node.js backend experience, preferably with NestJS.
- Experience designing and consuming APIs and working with distributed or microservices-based architectures.
- Experience with JWT/OIDC authentication, Auth0 or equivalent, and passport-jwt/JWKS patterns.
- Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, deployments, backups, scaling, and MongoDB operations.
- Experience with Docker and AWS ECS container orchestration, including task definitions, logging, and ECR.
- Experience with AWS services including Amplify, API Gateway, ALB/NLB, S3, EFS, CloudWatch, X-Ray, IAM, VPC, and VPC endpoints.
- Experience with Terraform, Terragrunt, GitHub Actions, GitHub OIDC, cloud-native automation, observability, and production operations.
- Experience with security best practices, testing, Jest, end-to-end testing, linting, and formatting.
- Experience integrating headless CMS platforms with modern front-end frameworks.
- Preferred experience includes Contentful, Drupal, WordPress, Zod, OpenAPI generation, CloudPosse Terraform modules, MongoDB and Node.js performance tuning, caching, EFS stateful containers, Checkov, and Terraform security CI checks.
