Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate, and optimize audio codec and firmware solutions for embedded DSP platforms.
- Own end-to-end development and support of audio features across Qualcomm products and platforms.
- Debug and resolve system-level issues involving DSP firmware, audio frameworks, codecs, Bluetooth Audio, and customer deployments.
- Optimize embedded software for processing capacity, memory, latency, and power consumption.
- Support customer engagements and provide technical leadership for issue investigation and resolution.
- Collaborate with Platform, Architecture, Framework, Customer Engineering, System Testing, and Product teams.
- Contribute to audio subsystem design, architecture reviews, technology roadmaps, validation plans, and technical documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across projects.
- Contribute to patent submissions and exploration of next-generation audio technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of industry experience in embedded software, DSP, or audio system development.
- Expert-level embedded C/C++ programming skills.
- Strong experience with audio codecs including LC3, AAC, SBC, CVSD, aptX, MP3, FLAC, AMR, or similar.
- Extensive experience with audio firmware and DSP framework development.
- Strong understanding of Bluetooth Audio, including Classic Audio and LE Audio.
- Hands-on experience with ARM Cortex-M, HiFi DSP, or equivalent DSP architectures.
- Knowledge of RTOS concepts, interrupts, synchronization, memory management, and multicore systems.
- Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, profiling, and embedded performance optimization skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Preferred qualifications include ANC, audio enhancement, speech enhancement, noise suppression, wake-word detection, ML-based audio processing, audio hardware interfaces, wireless audio protocols, customer escalations, production deployments, MATLAB, Python, and Qualcomm or similar embedded DSP platforms.
- Minimum qualifications also specify a bachelor's degree with 3+ years, a master's degree with 2+ years, or a PhD with 1+ year of related software engineering experience, plus 2+ years of academic or work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
