Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure backend systems for content visibility and search mechanisms.
- Lead technical execution, system design reviews, and technical initiatives within the team.
- Develop and roll out globally scalable A/B-tested features for Vinted’s users.
- Own backend services by monitoring and improving performance and stability, defining service measurements, and participating in the on-call rotation.
- Collaborate with Search, Recommender relevance, Product, Analytics, SRE, and other engineering teams on integrations and product development.
- Provide technical feasibility assessments, identify risks, estimate effort, and contribute to product roadmap decisions.
- Mentor and guide engineers while promoting engineering excellence and collaborative best practices.
Requirements
- Extensive backend software engineering experience designing and building scalable, distributed, and highly available systems.
- Strong backend engineering foundation; experience with Go, Kotlin, Ruby, or Python is beneficial.
- Experience with event streaming platforms such as Kafka or Apache Flink for real-time processing and message queueing.
- Experience with search engines, information retrieval, or ranking technologies such as Vespa, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch is advantageous.
- Experience with continuous integration and deployment pipelines and tools such as Jenkins.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana and Kibana.
- Experience working with relational and in-memory databases.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering, product, analytics, and SRE peers.
- Experience mentoring engineers and providing constructive feedback.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Interest in AI technologies and using AI tools to improve engineering outcomes.
