Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain edge applications in C, C++, and Python.
- Design system-level services for real-time data acquisition and processing in constrained environments.
- Configure Ubuntu and Yocto-based Linux systems, systemd services, networking, and OS-level components.
- Customize and maintain embedded Linux images.
- Implement Modbus RTU/TCP, OPC-UA, and Ethernet/IP industrial communication protocols and integrate industrial sensors.
- Build and manage Docker containers and deploy modules using Azure IoT Edge runtime.
- Manage edge module deployment, updates, monitoring, and lifecycle operations.
- Integrate edge systems with Azure IoT Hub and support reliable store-and-forward communication, retries, data pipelines, and command execution.
- Implement certificate- and TLS-based secure communication, device hardening, OTA updates, and device lifecycle management.
- Troubleshoot remote and onsite gateway issues, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with hardware, cloud, and platform teams.
Requirements
- 3–8 years of experience in embedded systems or edge application development.
- Strong C and C++ programming skills are mandatory, with working knowledge of Python.
- Hands-on experience with Linux systems, including Ubuntu; Yocto is preferred.
- Experience with Docker or containerization in edge environments.
- Knowledge of Azure IoT Edge, Azure IoT Hub, or similar IoT platforms.
- Experience with industrial protocols such as Modbus and OPC-UA.
- Understanding of TCP/IP, serial communication, systemd, shell scripting, and logging frameworks.
- Preferred qualifications include Yocto build systems and custom Linux image creation, ODVA compliance, edge AI or signal processing such as FFT and vibration analytics, OTA tools such as Canonical Landscape or Mender, embedded-device cybersecurity, the Azure ecosystem including Event Hub, and industrial IoT or manufacturing experience.
