Responsibilities
- Build and scale Elixir services that consume ML predictions from Modal.com, Vertex AI, and other ML platforms.
- Integrate AI capabilities into the core logistics platform, including edge-based inference, caching, optimization, fault tolerance, and intelligent fallbacks.
- Build demand planning, intelligent routing, anomaly detection, recommendation, and real-time prediction services.
- Design APIs for LLM integration with rate limiting and error handling.
- Develop Kafka- and Elixir-based real-time data pipelines to feed ML models.
- Design distributed systems capable of handling millions of AI-powered logistics operations.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, observability, configuration management, feature flagging, and performance and cost optimization.
- Create developer tools and abstractions that simplify AI integration for other engineers.
- Collaborate with AI product leadership, Data Scientists, ML/Data Engineers, and product teams on architecture and model deployment.
- Mentor engineers on AI tools, integration patterns, and best practices.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience building and scaling production Elixir systems with expert Elixir/Phoenix skills.
- 2+ years of TypeScript experience and the ability to select appropriate tools across Elixir, TypeScript, and Python.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, fault tolerance, supervision trees, and OTP patterns.
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
- Advanced SQL skills with PostgreSQL; AlloyDB experience is preferred.
- Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar streaming platforms.
- Hands-on experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure, with GCP preferred.
- Experience optimizing high-throughput, low-latency systems.
- Experience integrating LLMs such as OpenAI or Anthropic is preferred.
- Experience with Cloudflare Workers/AI or other edge platforms is preferred.
- Experience with event sourcing, feature stores, real-time ML serving, Modal.com, Vertex AI, GenAI applications, or prompt engineering is preferred.
- Knowledge of vector databases and semantic search is preferred.
- Experience with logistics, e-commerce, supply chain, A/B testing, or experimentation platforms is preferred.
- Contributions to open-source Elixir, TypeScript, or AI projects are preferred.
