Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and operate complex streaming and search infrastructure modules.
- Deploy and run services across multiple AWS regions using ECS, EC2, and supporting AWS services.
- Improve system performance and resiliency through caching, eviction, retry, dead-letter recovery, memory-mapped or pager-based access, and scaling strategies.
- Troubleshoot production issues, participate in incident response, and drive follow-up improvements.
- Contribute to architecture, technical planning, roadmap discussions, and team goals.
- Review code, mentor junior engineers, share knowledge, and improve engineering practices.
- Automate and simplify workflows, including through AI-assisted development tools and agents.
- Occasionally facilitate team rituals, planning, or delivery coordination.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on software development experience building and operating production services.
- Strong production experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js, or equivalent backend experience with the ability to ramp quickly on Node.js.
- Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure, especially ECS, EC2, Bedrock, SageMaker, OpenSearch, and multi-environment deployment.
- Strong algorithms and mathematics skills, including complexity, data structures, and performance trade-offs.
- Understanding of object-oriented and/or functional design, concurrency, troubleshooting, and independent problem-solving.
- Experience with high-traffic distributed systems, REST or WebSocket APIs, JSON or Protobuf, and basic observability practices.
- Familiarity with Agile development and AI-assisted development tools.
- Preferred experience with information retrieval, Lucene, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, vector databases, ML infrastructure, knowledge graphs, graph databases, cloud infrastructure, reliability, security and compliance, Terraform, CloudFormation, Jenkins, Harness, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk.
- Strong communication, collaboration, synthesis, and problem-solving skills.
Benefits
- For Canada-based roles, the stated starting base salary is $107,000-$157,300, with potential bonuses, stock grants, and comprehensive benefits.
