Base Salary
$106k - $145k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain reliable, scalable, fault-tolerant backend services and frameworks for controlling and calibrating neutral-atom quantum computers.
- Collaborate with scientists, opto-mechanical engineers, and electrical engineers to solve complex problems and deliver software solutions.
- Teach engineering and programming best practices to interdisciplinary teams.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Lead code and design reviews and uphold engineering quality and collaboration practices.
- Support and debug the control stack from real-time embedded kernels through distributed services.
- Implement software development tools and methodologies that improve team efficiency and product quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of prior work experience.
- Experience with Python and at least one compiled language, with willingness to learn and use Rust.
- Experience with Linux and virtualization technologies such as Docker.
- Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in software engineering practices including testing, debugging, revision control, error handling, readability, documentation, and code health.
- Preferred experience with statistics, machine learning, or AMO physics.
- Preferred experience with NumPy, SciPy, PyTorch, real-time image analysis and object detection, relational and non-relational databases, time-series data, SQL, ETL processes, CI/CD pipelines, and Python packages with C or Rust extensions.
