Base Salary
$150k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical side of new opportunities alongside Account Executives from initial discovery through technical win.
- Understand prospects’ use cases, architectures, data needs, and success criteria, and determine where Exa fits.
- Build and deliver tailored demos, sample applications, and end-to-end prototypes.
- Design and run workshops and proofs of concept with defined success criteria, timelines, and evaluation plans.
- Benchmark Exa on quality, latency, and cost and make the technical case against alternatives.
- Address technical objections and answer security, compliance, and architecture questions.
- Coordinate Forward Deployed Engineers as specialists and complete customer handoffs after close.
- Provide market feedback to Product and build reusable demo environments, reference architectures, and evaluation playbooks.
Requirements
- Several years of hands-on programming experience with the ability to build demos, implement end-to-end POCs, and design rigorous competitive evaluations.
- At least 2 years of hands-on presales or technical sales experience, ideally at an AI-native or developer-first company.
- Experience owning the technical side of deals, running discovery and demos with technical buyers, and helping opportunities reach close.
- Strong communication skills for explaining complex technology to CTOs, engineers, and product managers.
- A track record of high performance in a demanding environment.
- Tolerance for context switching, ambiguity, and sustained intensity.
- Willingness to travel as needed for customer meetings and workshops.
- Solutions architect, solutions engineer, or sales engineer experience at a developer-tools, API, or AI company is advantageous.
- Experience building with LLMs, RAG, or agents and discussing retrieval and search quality is advantageous.
- Experience contributing to revenue or commercial outcomes is advantageous.
