
Staff Software Engineer - Esports Platforms
Riot GamesResponsibilities
- Drive development of esports applications using web technologies and integrate with Esports and Game Services through technical guidance and hands-on coding
- Provide technical leadership within the team and adjacent teams to deliver scalable, reliable engineering solutions
- Contribute to technical planning and architecture decisions
- Partner with product, production, QA, design, and data teams to deliver esports experiences
- Mentor engineers on technical and interpersonal skills
- Write documentation and communicate technical details across disciplines
- Participate in on-call rotation, triage and resolve live incidents, and propose solutions through root-cause analyses
Requirements
- 6+ years of industry experience in software engineering with demonstrated technical leadership on complex projects
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or comparable experience in software development
- Strong proficiency with web technologies and working experience with TypeScript, React, and Next.js
- Experience driving the design and development of large efforts with 6-month or longer scope, including requirements gathering, planning, development, testing, and release
- Experience collaborating across disciplines and teams
- Demonstrated experience setting engineering policies and standards across teams or initiatives
- Preferred experience with Netlify or Vercel, GraphQL, and test automation frameworks such as Playwright or Cypress
- Familiarity with Riot’s esports titles, tournaments, and tournament formats is preferred
