Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership in the design, development, and deployment of Caterpillar’s cloud-based digital platform.
- Design and develop scalable Java and J2EE software applications and business applications.
- Implement features using cloud platforms, AWS services, serverless applications, containers, and cloud-native technologies.
- Develop and maintain applications using Spring, JPA, Hibernate, JDBC, SQL, JUnit, JSON, and REST/JSON web services.
- Use Git to manage large software projects, including branching, tagging, and merging.
- Develop, deploy, and debug cloud-based applications using AWS services, APIs, CLI tools, and SDKs.
- Apply Java design patterns, object-oriented design, MVC, application lifecycle management, and AWS security best practices.
- Author, maintain, and debug code modules and contribute to technical documentation and task estimates.
Requirements
- A four-year degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least 14 years of software development experience, including 8 or more years designing and developing Java applications at scale.
- Strong experience with Java, J2EE, and cloud-based environments.
- Expert knowledge of JPA, Hibernate, JDBC, SQL, Spring, JUnit, JSON, and REST/JSON web services.
- Strong knowledge of Java design patterns, object-oriented design, and MVC.
- Experience developing applications with cloud platform products and technologies.
- Sufficient experience with Git for managing large software projects with multiple developers.
- Experience with AWS or Azure cloud PaaS and Java is preferred.
- Proficiency with Eclipse, Maven, AWS services, AWS APIs, AWS CLI, SDKs, serverless applications, containers, and CI/CD deployment pipelines is preferred.
- Strong debugging, business application design, communication, and interpersonal skills are preferred.
- Understanding of AWS architecture, the AWS shared responsibility model, application lifecycle management, cloud-native applications, and AWS security best practices is preferred.
