Base Salary
$149k - $199k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build high-performance, stable, and scalable backend systems for enterprise deployment.
- Lead architecture discussions and planning sessions, author and review technical proposals and root cause analyses, and establish team standards.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and support production incidents.
- Mentor and advise other engineers.
- Contribute to the DSS technical community through presentations, tech talks, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a comparable field, and/or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of related experience crafting backend architectures and delivering backend applications in production environments.
- Validated knowledge of operating large-scale, high-availability backend services and JVM services.
- Expertise in functional programming patterns and experience building RESTful services with Scala APIs.
- Experience with asynchronous programming models, threading, and concurrency.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, databases, design patterns, and design principles.
- Experience operating within a public cloud provider such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with source control, CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, Docker, and messaging technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or SQS.
- Experience with observability tools for metrics, logging, and monitoring such as Datadog, Splunk, or Grafana.
- Knowledge of caching technologies and Agile/Scrum practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication, independent learning ability, and excellent problem-solving skills.
