Responsibilities
- Own ambiguous customer and venture problems end to end from discovery and prototyping through production, measurement, and iteration.
- Build, evaluate, and operate AI-powered systems using models, agents, tools, retrieval, agentic workflows, and deterministic software.
- Adapt across ventures, products, codebases, technology stacks, and commercial contexts while delivering focused missions.
- Use coding agents and AI-enabled workflows to improve development speed, testing, iteration, and software quality.
- Design products for sensitive data, security, privacy, testing, observability, and appropriate controls in high-trust environments.
- Collaborate with product, design, venture leaders, and customers to test assumptions, evaluate outcomes, and guide investment decisions.
- Develop reusable AI services, integration patterns, and architecture where they provide leverage across multiple ventures.
Requirements
- Repeated experience shipping significant software products with clear personal technical, product, and delivery contributions.
- Hands-on ability to work across the full stack and become effective quickly in unfamiliar products, codebases, and technology stacks.
- Strong product judgment and the ability to balance customer value, commercial value, complexity, and delivery speed.
- Experience using AI-assisted development and building and evaluating AI-powered systems without dependence on a particular framework.
- Ability to distinguish dependable production products from prototypes and choose AI or deterministic approaches based on measurable value.
- Pragmatic ability to navigate security, privacy, risk, legal, platform, and organizational constraints.
- Experience in one or more relevant areas, including AI-powered applications, cloud-native applications, APIs, integration-heavy systems, secure products in regulated environments, or startup and venture product teams.
- Senior engineers independently own complex product builds; Staff engineers lead technically ambiguous initiatives and create leverage; Principal engineers shape portfolio-level technical direction and solve difficult cross-venture engineering problems.
