Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of major software components and subsystems within the Merge Universal Viewer.
- Develop advanced diagnostic imaging and visualization capabilities, workflows, and interoperability features.
- Lead technical design reviews and code reviews, review other developers’ work, and set technical direction with Architecture.
- Investigate and resolve software defects, performance issues, and escalated customer and production issues.
- Mentor junior and senior developers and drive continuous improvement in engineering practices and product quality.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Regulatory Affairs, Support, and Architecture to meet business, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Assign work to contractors and track progress through completion.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- Extensive experience developing medical imaging software, with strong knowledge of DICOM standards and imaging workflows.
- Strong familiarity with PACS and enterprise imaging environments.
- Strong web development experience, including ownership of significant subsystem design.
- Strong JavaScript and/or TypeScript, Angular, and C#/.NET development experience; equivalent depth in Java and comparable web frameworks may be considered.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar tools.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, analytical, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
- Experience with diagnostic imaging viewers or healthcare applications, cloud technologies, modern web architectures, HL7 or FHIR, and regulated software environments is preferred.
