Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI/LLM-powered applications using retrieval-augmented generation, orchestration, prompt engineering, and model integration.
- Build reusable AI engineering patterns, frameworks, guardrails, evaluation, observability, and cost-control practices for broader IT Engineering adoption.
- Develop and integrate cloud-native applications and AI services on Microsoft Azure.
- Partner with Security and Compliance to deliver secure-by-design solutions meeting HIPAA and data-protection standards.
- Serve as a technical point of contact and hands-on developer for organization-wide AI solution delivery.
- Gather business requirements and translate them into AI-powered solutions.
- Monitor and optimize the performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of AI and cloud services.
- Advise IT Engineering leadership on AI platform direction, adoption, and improvement opportunities.
- Mentor engineers adopting AI-assisted development practices and platform engineering patterns.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technology field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of software or cloud application engineering experience, including recent hands-on AI/ML development.
- Hands-on experience building AI/ML and LLM-based applications with Azure OpenAI or Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, retrieval-augmented generation, orchestration frameworks, prompt engineering, model integration, and evaluation.
- Hands-on experience using agentic coding assistants such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot.
- Strong cloud-native application development skills on Microsoft Azure, including services such as App Service, Functions, containers or AKS, API Management, and storage and data services.
- Strong programming skills in Python and C#/.NET.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, automated testing, CI/CD, and observability.
- Familiarity with MLOps/LLMOps and Agile delivery methodologies.
- Knowledge of secure application design, Microsoft Entra ID, API security, and data protection in a HIPAA-regulated environment.
- Strong architectural judgment, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Microsoft or Azure AI certifications are preferred but not required.
