Base Salary

$175k - $245k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable backend services for Smartsheet’s next-generation applications using Kotlin and Java.
  • Solve distributed systems challenges and work with AWS and Kubernetes cloud infrastructure.
  • Lead code reviews and architectural discussions with software engineers and product managers.
  • Serve as a force-multiplying team lead for important billing and subscription initiatives.
  • Mentor engineers on code quality and industry best practices.
  • Partner with product management and other business stakeholders.
  • Use AI tools to improve coding, testing, design, troubleshooting, and team processes.
  • Promote engineering best practices beyond the immediate team.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software development experience building highly scalable and highly available applications.
  • 7+ years of programming experience with full-stack technologies such as Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript.
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.
  • At least 1 year of professional experience using AI to improve productivity while building complex SaaS feature sets.
  • Experience developing, documenting, and supporting APIs.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis.
  • Preferred experience includes MySQL or relational databases, NoSQL or DynamoDB, Snowflake or Databricks, ECS, large-scale event processing, Kinesis, Kafka, Flink, Spark, and infrastructure as code.
