
Sr. Software Engineer II - Billing & Subscriptions Engineering (Remote Eligible)

Base Salary
$175k - $245k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build scalable backend services for Smartsheet’s next-generation applications using Kotlin and Java.
- Solve distributed systems challenges and work with AWS and Kubernetes cloud infrastructure.
- Lead code reviews and architectural discussions with software engineers and product managers.
- Serve as a force-multiplying team lead for important billing and subscription initiatives.
- Mentor engineers on code quality and industry best practices.
- Partner with product management and other business stakeholders.
- Use AI tools to improve coding, testing, design, troubleshooting, and team processes.
- Promote engineering best practices beyond the immediate team.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software development experience building highly scalable and highly available applications.
- 7+ years of programming experience with full-stack technologies such as Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript.
- 3+ years of experience with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.
- At least 1 year of professional experience using AI to improve productivity while building complex SaaS feature sets.
- Experience developing, documenting, and supporting APIs.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis.
- Preferred experience includes MySQL or relational databases, NoSQL or DynamoDB, Snowflake or Databricks, ECS, large-scale event processing, Kinesis, Kafka, Flink, Spark, and infrastructure as code.
