Base Salary

$127k - $243k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of complex Java applications, APIs, and event-driven services.
  • Resolve complex production issues across applications, integrations, and systems through root-cause analysis and coordinated troubleshooting.
  • Establish technical direction for application stability, performance, resilience, security, supportability, technical debt reduction, and incident blast-radius reduction.
  • Lead code and design reviews, communicate technical impacts, and organize engineering work across teams.
  • Improve observability through logging, monitoring, dashboards, metrics, and alerting.
  • Guide refactoring and optimization in Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift environments.
  • Mentor and coach engineers on software design, secure development, production troubleshooting, Site Reliability Engineering practices, and system maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering and production support through automation, DevOps practices, and AI-assisted capabilities.
  • Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
  • At least 8 years of software development experience with technical depth in Java, Spring Boot, APIs, or similar enterprise application technologies, including 2 years leading enterprise technology projects or initiatives.
  • At least 6 years delivering technology solutions across all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle.
  • Advanced experience developing, deploying, and supporting containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
  • Experience independently leading complex production issue resolution through root-cause analysis and end-to-end troubleshooting.
  • Experience leading code and design reviews and guiding application refactoring and optimization.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging technologies such as Kafka.
  • Experience leading application observability improvements using Kibana, Datadog, or similar tools.
  • Ability to provide technical direction, mentor engineers, and communicate technical challenges, risks, and solutions to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience with mainframe or legacy technology integrations, Site Reliability Engineering and DevOps practices, AWS, automation or AI-assisted tools, and regulated industries such as financial services or insurance.
