
Principal Engineer, Embedded Software Engineering

- Lead the design, development, debugging, optimization, and maintenance of kernel-level software, subsystems, and drivers.
- Investigate and resolve complex kernel, runtime, compatibility, and system-environment issues using debugging and performance-analysis tools.
- Support architecture, design, development, delivery, customer proposals, RFQs, and interactions with internal and external customers.
- Provide technical leadership for kernel and system components, mentor junior engineers, and supervise and review development contributions without direct reports.
- Establish software design standards, review code, improve development practices, and promote team effectiveness and software maturity.
- Research technology trends, support new product development, and present and defend technical decisions to peers and engineering management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering.
- 10+ years of software development and architecture experience, including 8+ years developing and debugging robust Linux or Android systems.
- Strong expertise in C/C++, kernel internals, device drivers, kernel subsystems, embedded Linux, Android boot sequence, framework architecture, and system programming.
- Experience with multithreaded programming, middleware development, inter-process communication, operating-system concepts, runtime troubleshooting, and Android build, porting, and customization.
- Experience with ARM32/64, ARM64, x86_64, and MIPS architectures; camera SerDes and sensor-driver integration; and I2C, SPI, UART, USB, PCIe, SDIO, Ethernet, UFS, and eMMC.
- Expertise with at least one real-time operating system such as RT Linux, QNX, or VxWorks, plus kernel debugging, performance monitoring, memory analysis, and CPU benchmarking.
- Experience with C, C++, HAL, device drivers, system programming, Yocto, Perl, Python, Java, Git, Gerrit, hardware analyzers, hardware debuggers, cross-compiler toolchains, and build IDEs.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and complex software-defect troubleshooting skills.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree or postgraduate diploma in Embedded Systems or equivalent, patents, open-source contributions, conference participation, automotive or mobile-platform experience, and ASPICE-compatible development experience.
