Base Salary
$120k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define user requirements and translate ambiguous problem spaces into technical solutions.
- Identify dependencies and lead design documentation for products, services, and platforms with minimal oversight.
- Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to improve performance, maintainability, reliability, and ROI.
- Partner with program managers and stakeholders on project plans, release strategies, and scoped work items.
- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual for critical components, establish operational playbooks, participate in on-call rotations, and lead service incident mitigation and recovery.
- Adopt modern patterns, tools, and AI-assisted techniques to improve availability, durability, efficiency, observability, and operational consistency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Rust, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check.
- Preferred: master’s degree and 6+ years of technical engineering experience, or bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems with guarantees around consistency, durability, availability, and defined SLOs.
- Hands-on experience with Azure, SQL/NoSQL storage, caching and messaging systems, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling such as logs, metrics, traces, and preferably Kusto.
- Curiosity about emerging AI technologies and experience applying them to diagnostics, intelligent runbooks, incident analysis, or developer productivity in alignment with Microsoft Responsible AI principles.
