Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of 5–10 enterprise projects with varying complexity and urgency.
- Lead technical discovery with merchants and partners to understand goals, requirements, integrations, constraints, and success criteria.
- Advise merchants on Shopify capabilities, ecommerce architecture, custom functionality, business-system integrations, and platform strategy.
- Design technical approaches, evaluate tradeoffs, identify risks and dependencies, and guide project execution.
- Act as a Shopify platform and ecosystem expert across storefronts, Retail/POS, B2B, payments, apps, APIs, checkout extensibility, and commerce architecture.
- Determine when to involve Professional Services, partners, Product, Engineering, or other Shopify teams.
- Support merchant development, technical, and operational teams as a trusted advisor during implementation.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Operations, Production Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, Risk & Legal, and Product teams.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of Shopify administration, settings, customization, first-party apps, platform primitives, metaobjects, Shopify Functions, checkout extensibility, and API integrations.
- Functional proficiency in at least one programming language sufficient to evaluate integration approaches, review implementation patterns, and communicate with development teams.
- Experience advising on ecommerce architecture including storefronts, product and collection modeling, checkout flows, customer accounts, payments, subscriptions, fulfillment, and operational workflows.
- Strong understanding of REST and GraphQL queries, mutations, and objects.
- Ability to reason through complex ecosystems involving ERPs, OMSs, WMSs, PSPs, subscription platforms, loyalty systems, tax providers, middleware, and custom applications.
- Experience with ecommerce website development, including product and collection pages, checkout flows, navigation menus, and funnel optimization.
- Strong technical aptitude and a record of driving complex work to clear outcomes.
- Ability to simplify technical complexity, operate in ambiguity, and translate merchant needs into actionable solution paths.
- Superior verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment and continuously build Shopify and ecommerce expertise.
