Responsibilities
- Design and implement Linux kernel and hypervisor improvements for Nutanix AHV.
- Optimize VM live migration for speed and predictability and improve hypervisor upgrade reliability.
- Perform low-level coding, debugging, research, and performance analysis across operating-system and hardware architecture layers.
- Participate in design discussions and communicate technical ideas to geographically distributed teams.
- Contribute product improvements to open-source communities and Linux or virtualization projects.
- Mentor junior engineers and assist with customer escalations and outage resolution.
Requirements
- Strong operating-system and systems fundamentals with low-level coding and debugging experience on at least one hardware architecture, preferably x86.
- Ability to write and maintain enterprise-quality code and deliver features to customers.
- At least 6 years of hands-on experience shipping enterprise-quality software.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of x86 virtualization and the KVM stack is preferred.
- Linux kernel and virtualization stack contributions are a plus.
- Strong analytical, research, communication, writing, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
