Principal Engineer

- Advise leadership on applications, networking, information security, databases, operating systems, and web technologies for complex enterprise needs.
- Lead strategy and resolution of highly complex, enterprise-wide technical challenges with long-term and large-scale solutions.
- Translate business objectives, enterprise technology environments, and strategic opportunities into technical engineering solutions.
- Provide technical vision, direction, and expertise for innovative business solutions.
- Evaluate industry best practices and recommend technologies that improve operations or provide competitive advantage.
- Engage with professionals, managers, executives, CIO leadership, architecture teams, business stakeholders, and external service providers.
- Design and develop cloud-native enterprise applications using the Java stack.
- Support CI/CD implementation, configuration management, build, orchestration, security scanning, code-quality scanning, and container solution implementations.
Requirements
- 7+ years of engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- Experience delivering complex enterprise-wide information technology solutions.
- Experience providing high-level design consultation covering planning, integration, implementation, scalability, and problem definition.
- Experience applying new technologies to business needs in an innovative, change-driven organization.
- Ability to influence and build relationships with business stakeholders, technology CIO leadership, external service providers, and architecture teams.
- Experience supporting senior-level leaders or executives.
- Experience with one or more CI/CD, configuration management, build, or orchestration tools listed in the posting.
- Experience designing and developing cloud-native enterprise applications using the Java stack.
- Experience with one or more security and code-quality scanning tools listed in the posting.
- Experience implementing container solutions, preferably Kubernetes or Docker.
- Experience with AWS, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, VMware Tanzu App Service, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A master’s degree or higher in computer science or finance is desired.
