Responsibilities
- Own architecture and detailed design for real-time payments products and platform capabilities across multiple markets.
- Design, build, maintain, and review software components and services for low-latency, high-throughput distributed systems.
- Define and enforce reference architectures, design patterns, engineering standards, non-functional requirements, SLIs, and SLOs.
- Drive performance, scalability, reliability, security, observability, capacity planning, failure handling, and production readiness.
- Own end-to-end delivery of complex features and subsystems from design through production.
- Support incident analysis, remediation, performance testing, capacity validation, and resilience improvements.
- Drive cross-market architectural alignment, platform evolution, reuse, and technical debt reduction.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads, support hiring and technical assessments, and raise the quality of technical decision-making.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience designing and building distributed systems at scale.
- Proven experience owning architecture and design for complex, business-critical platforms.
- Strong hands-on expertise with microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Deep understanding of performance engineering, scalability patterns, resilience design, and failure handling.
- Solid experience with observability, production diagnostics, and operational readiness.
- Hands-on experience across object-oriented and functional programming languages, including Java, Spring, React, Angular, and Erlang.
- Experience working across application, messaging, data, and platform layers and across multiple technology stacks.
- Familiarity with cloud and containerized environments and heterogeneous market deployments.
- Payments or financial services experience, including real-time processing or regulated environments, is preferred.
- Ability to influence without authority, make high-impact technical decisions, communicate complex concepts clearly, and lead through technical credibility.
