Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable, reliable, and high-performance distributed systems for the Cloud Gateway Platform.
- Build event-driven systems using Kafka, Redis, message brokers, streaming, and queuing solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate system requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Write maintainable production code with robust test coverage.
- Implement, monitor, debug, and optimize applications for high availability and low latency.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain cloud solutions, particularly on AWS.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and production issues.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including occasional weekends, late nights, and holidays.
- Maintain documentation and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and alerting systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience required.
- Production-grade programming experience with Go, Rust, and Python.
- Experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms, event-driven architecture, Kafka, and Redis.
- Experience with Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon RDS, Amazon DocumentDB, and/or MongoDB.
- Experience with systems debugging, production operations, Datadog, and Amazon CloudWatch.
- Experience with unit, system, and performance testing, plus Git version control.
- Ability to design cost-effective and efficient systems and independently drive projects to completion.
- Familiarity with WebSocket, gRPC, Jenkins, GitLab, Terraform, Terragrunt, Crossplane, Argo CD, Docker, and Kubernetes is preferred.
- Experience building high-performance, low-latency systems at scale is preferred; automotive, IoT, or connected-device experience is a plus.
- Ability to participate in rotating on-call coverage and work from the Vancouver office at least three days per week.
