Responsibilities
- Design and implement highly available, scalable backend services and APIs for distributed procurement workflows.
- Architect resilient service designs and data models for high-volume transaction processing, performance, and graceful degradation.
- Improve reliability, performance, and scalability through profiling, observability, and load testing.
- Implement security, data protection, and fault-tolerance patterns for critical procurement operations.
- Build asynchronous task-processing pipelines for automated procurement decisions and carrier notifications.
- Design caching, database optimization, and service-orchestration patterns to achieve sub-second response times at scale.
- Build, test, and ship high-performance, accessible user-facing web experiences.
- Contribute to scalable frontend architecture and own features from specification through rollout.
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to shape and deliver solutions iteratively.
- Work autonomously on a globally distributed, async-first team.
- Participate in code reviews, reduce technical debt, and raise engineering standards.
- Use AI-assisted development tools for delivery, refactoring, and debugging while maintaining quality, coverage, and observability.
- Mentor junior developers and help establish coding standards and best practices.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience with meaningful ownership of production systems.
- Strong experience building Python services in cloud environments, particularly AWS.
- Experience with Flask, Celery, and PyTest or similar tools.
- Solid PostgreSQL skills including schema design, indexing, and query-performance optimization.
- Familiarity with distributed systems and microservices architecture and the ability to reason about tradeoffs.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Gemini CLI.
- Strong frontend experience building modern web applications, preferably with React; Angular or Vue are acceptable.
- Deep understanding of JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and SCSS, with strong UX/UI instincts and accessibility fundamentals.
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs, including versioning, pagination, error handling, and authentication patterns.
- Experience with CI/CD, unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies, and code-quality practices.
- Strong written communication skills and comfort working asynchronously across time zones.
- Experience with Redux, re-select, redux-saga, Storybook, Jest, Testing Library, TestCafe, Elasticsearch, CloudWatch, Datadog, Docker, or Terraform is a bonus.
- Experience shipping B2B SaaS products in logistics, procurement, marketplaces, or other complex domains is a bonus.
